What to sell? Here is an original idea!

Today while browsing through Facebook wall I stumbled upon an interesting dropshipping shopify offer (they are driving traffic via Facebook Ads like I am teaching in the course)

Take a look. Instead of going the beat down road with selling “dog products” or “necklaces” or “t-shirts” (the market is really oversaturated with those), these guys went really original and playing on the “nostalgic” and our childhood memories of the retro games.

This is their ad, well written as well:

No surprise it got many comments and shares. and if you check their offer, they are selling the retro games station for 67 EURO (!).

The shopify store is well done as well with well placed apps, scarcity and reviews.

Now if you check SellslikeHotcakes Tools, you can easily find the suppliers they use.

with the sourcing price of $30.99 USD! (Just 25 EUR!)

As you can see they are getting almost $30 Net profit per sale or maybe more, as the shipping is free.

So you can see how well you can get started with dropshipping using a simple viral idea, playing on the passion and nostalgia idea instead of trying to sell generic products like necklaces or t-shirts!

If you have not started, I hope you get started soon, and get your store going for the coming-soon Christmas sale!!

pet rock.. hm.. Not really.. run the numbers on the Best Seller finder.. u see most sales are made by 2-3 sellers, others are struggling. It's also too cheap of a product, Average price of the product from top 10 sellers: $13.13 (Approximate FBA fees: $2.63)

Is Retail arbitrage even worthwhile anymore? i checked Target, Walmart, Toys-r-us and profit margins are too low for me.

We already discussed it... See the video "why i hate retail arbitrage". In short, yes it works but it's much more complicated and it's basically another JOB not a passive income. I would not get into it this year. It's hard to scale if you are just starting out and don't have assistants to help you find producs, list them...

What are the ways to ship stuff from CHina to USA?

6
Claudia says at 21:28 et
You can choose Express courier, Air freight, and Sea freight. Incoterms rules can be FOB, EXW, usually i suggest to choose FOB. So its not your duty to worry about exporting fees and china customs..

Do you fullfill yourself or dropship guys?

 Victor says at 21:36 et
I used to do a hybrid of both physically stocked inventory and drop shipped products. I usually dropship from warehouses based in the US so it's faster.. and international ones from CHINA.. My advice, start by dropshipping first to validate products amd test and build momentum.. once you see it sells well get fulfilling inventory on the products that sell the most!

Paypal accounts for about 45% of our sales. I'd say 20% of conversations are coming from Amazon. Also add Stripe and they'll have a much more straightforward guest checkout with credit card.

2 questions. Love the community very helpful read..

1.Whats BSR??
2. Whats MOQ?

Uncle Sam says at 21:48 et
BSR... BSR (best sellers rank) is how well you are ranked on amazon.. the smaller the number the better!
Ideally you must be under 10,000 BSR to get 5-10 sales per day!

hi after taking the steps to show you my store I realised that i did it in hast and have closed it, by the way thanks for all the comments they were super useful!
I am going for my original niche and I have several ideas for others once im up and running. I am very impressed by the help you get here, from the keyword, title generator, the filler and bullet point generator and everything else, all great in helping newbies like myself.
i would like to ask that once i have my shop up and running and looking great would it be an option to do a full launch campaign with one of the email companies to send out emails to your target audience? I have seen ones advertised and I am realistic about the feedback and actual conversions but i don't have an email list yet and this seems to be a great option. let me know

thanks

Hello everyone :-) my name is Gadi, and I'm a new member. Glad to meet you all , and looking forward to be part of your community :)
I would like to ask few questions:
First I'm thinking of adding a donation component to my sales. so part of the profit goes to donation. Is it sounds reasonable, regarding the expenses ?
Second - as I said I live in the UK, will it be a mistake to sell only for the UK market in order to save costs of transaction fees, and saving shipping time. I'm not sure that the thinking is correct, but as I said, I'm a newbie.. thanks, gadi

Welcome Gad! Donation component is a great way to boost your sales but it must be linked to a good cause and make sense, so that your product is somehow linked to a good story that makes sense

Regarding your question Mike, I thought about
Dropshipping at first

Two more questions please :
Is there AliExpress in UK, so the shipping would be shorter ?
Second - is it possible and profitable to creat one store, and then inside to create few nitches in it ?

Gad, Aliexpress is a chinese company. They ship internationally but it's always from china. You can watch video on finding local dropshipping suppliers in your niche in UK if you want to go local route.
Regarding the store - again it depends on what you plan to sell. See my video about branding talking about small brand or more general brand to have better idea!

So Im new....still doing research for a niche...what I'm finding is using the Hotcakes competitor spy tool, when I do find something that I might like to sell I find out the competitor didn't get it from Aliexpress. This happens more often that not with the biggest Shopify stores. What other dropshipper might they be using?

It does not have to be only Aliexpress. Check the local dropshipping supplier video, you can also find local suppliers!

Hi,
I have finished watching the video about "incorporation and taxes" but I'm lost. If I understood correctly the suggested way to open a seller central account is as a professional.
-What do I need to open a professional account?
-Do I need a LLC? bank account? address??
Can someone explain ---> my situation will be "Rest of the world selling in the US"
Thank you!

You need an LLC, Bank account and a credit card. Yes your company does not have to be from USA even if you plan to sell in USA
