The Wall Keeps Helping people: Here’s Violet’s Story

Did you know that most people fail with e-commerce not because they don’t have enough information (there is plenty of information!), but because they fail to USE it, they fail to implement.

That’s why I highly encourage everyone to share your experience with the community on the WALL!

–> Share your experience and ask your questions here

You are NOT ALONE. You are in the group of like-minded people who are doing it professionally and would love to help you.

Let’s take Violet for example. She started a nice dog store, but she struggled with sales.

She posted her store in the “Critics and Brainstorming” section and received a lot of great tips and suggestions.

Take a look:

There you can submit your product or website (anonymously if you choose, no problem!), research ideas, listings, descriptions and bullet points for the community to analyze, critique and brainstorm.

You will be surprised at the ideas and tips you will receive that you never thought about, helping you instantly boost your sales and avoid costly mistakes. “Is this the right product to sell?” “How can I improve this listing title?” “How can I improve conversion from my bullet points?”

You will get valuable ideas and tips from people who sell BIG and do this for a living!

You don’t have to worry that other people will copy you… your competitor can copy your product anyway, whether you like it or not.

Try to adopt an abundance mindset instead of a mindset of scarcity. There is enough money and room for everyone, and there is always competition in anything, so stop worrying about it. Competition exists whether or not you worry about it; it’s a part of the game!

We can achieve many more sales by helping each other rather than labeling every other person as a competitor.

Shopify has built in blog functionality - that's all you really need.. why would you separate blog from the store, it makes no sense these days.

Dont be discarded about drop shipping there are lots of people have succeeded in drop shipping, my advice drop ship is good when you do it internationally. I have no problems with international customers.

You can reduce the delivery time.. Try DHL, i pass the cost to the consumer, i find consumer will pay the xtra amount to get the instant gratification they seek in online shopping.. Or find domestic suppliers..
It is Ok to use AlieExpress - just make sure that your customers know about the delivery times and the reason is because all products are made to order and direct from the factory.
Then scale up and move slowly to FBA once you know what sells best for your store and fullfill via amazon prime!

They are pretty good, you must understand that real numbers only amazon knows, all the tools can use the estimates based on the BSR approximation!

hi Xuan, it depends on many factors. what is your store? what product you sell? what ads you run? You might want to submit your project to Critics here http://sellslikehotcakes.co/critics.php and everyone will help brainstorming it.

Hello Im a fresh rookie Im a little confused on the Goal of 45,000.00 .....It reads...."Our goal is to make at least $10 per product per sale and at least make 10 sales per
day from each product, which means from five products, we are going to make
$45,000 at least per month plus your Shopify store profits and, of course, minus the
cost of sales, production, shipping and advertising. Our estimated profit is $45,000
per month. Well you can’t live with that but you would agree it’s a good start "

Is that goal only when you start with Amazon, or still good if you take the Shopify to start with...?

Welcome Andres. $10 per product per sale and 10 sales is a universal rule of thumb for any ecommerce store. 10-10 rule some people call it. It's same rule no matter if you start shopify or amazon or even better BOTH channels combined.

I agree, starting both is a way to go, you never know the future and which source will be more profitable for your product or niche! Good luck!

Hi there,
On my own I have set up my Shopify website with my domain, I have Oberlo and have imported lots of products and listed them, however, i am really not sure that they are worded right in the SEO way and I have been trying social marketing but still have no sales, I've been doing this for several weeks now. so I have just discovered Sells Like Hotcakes and thought that you may be able to help me with the marketing, the conversions and eventually with Amazon FBA is this something that you can do or because I have done most of the set up myself do you think I should continue on my own? I really am struggling to get past this rut where I have done everything I should do and no sales. Please help?

thanks in desperation!
Sallyann

Over the next few weeks, I’d like to do something a little bit different.

I thought it would be fun to ask people what they wanted to learn about (so I can customize my future emails to help YOU :-D).

Here's your first question...

What is your #1 single biggest ecommerce challenge right now (and how is it impacting your life on a daily basis)?

how much should i charge for international shipping for "free + shipping offers"? If a client buys a "free+shipping offer" directly from my site more than once - how much should i charge for every "free+shipping item" added?

 Lane says at 03:41 et
It's hard to say without knowing your product, location or shipping costs how much you should charge. Best tip here is see what competitor is charging so you will get a rough idea. Maybe $19.95 for a Tshirt or $9.95 for a Mug

I don't see a need to limit the amount of "free+shipping item" as long as you are making profits and have good margins

How do you know if the Traffic is Warm hot or cold? I want to launch an AD right away can i just start targeting my niche with different variations of ads right away as i am not looking for comments etc just sales. The FB ADS training is a little unclear.

 Mike says at 16:20 et
hi James. The traffic that never saw your brand is a cold one. Imagine you have a spokeperson that is doing all the selling in the video. So to warm up the traffic, people need to know more about him and get used to see him as a head of community, as expert in your niche, so they start to buy from him.

If you do "everything store" without a leading actor or a good story, then another approach can be used, for example contest giveaway, or buy 1 get 1 free, or flash sale or "free just pay for shipping gift" etc.

Cold = never heard of your brand or product
Warm = already saw you and needs further pushing to sale with retargeting!

Hi, Claudia and Friends...
Just brainstorming a bit! Is it possible to monetize a Shopify store solely or in part by customer's purchases?
